I became a Sisterlocks™ trainee in June, 2004. In July 2007, I received my official Sisterlocks™ consultant certification.

My knowledge of Sisterlocks came to me one day at work in 2003 from a co-worker. At the time I wore a hair weave. I would go between hair weaves and extensions. After 10 years of unsatisfactory results from beauticians, hair braiders, and hair loss, Sisterlocks seemed as an answered prayer for me. I started my journey with Sisterlocks on June 14, 2003.  At first, I felt an intense aversion at how I looked when I got my hair Sisterlocked. After a few months into my journey with Sisterlocks my hair started to fill in on the sides and top. After 2 years my hair was near my shoulders. After 4 years, my hair was past my shoulders. Getting ready for work in the mornings was a big ordeal before Sisterlocks. I had to tussle with my weave to make sure the wefts were covered by my own hair. With Sisterlocks I just get up and go. I do not have to do a thing with my hair unless I want to add a pretty scarf, maybe pull it up in a French roll or just let it hang loose. This is the best hair style that I have ever had. I discovered that my own kinky hair is beautiful.
